On November 24, 2023, a scientific and practical round table was held at the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on the occasion of the State Flag Day of the Republic of Tajikistan. The meeting began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Tajikistan. The round table was opened by the Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Parviz Muhammadzoda, who congratulated the participants on the occasion of the State Flag Day of the Republic of Tajikistan. He appreciated the National Flag Day as a symbol of sovereignty, a symbol of national dreams and aspirations and the highest values of the Tajik nation.
At the beginning of his speech, he noted that the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the State Flag Day in 2023, said: «The flag of the new state of Tajiks is born from the era of independence, and from the first days of its adoption, our people took steady steps on the path of unity and mutual understanding, peace and tranquility, and the construction of their national statehood, and reached the peaceful life of today.
Parviz Muhammadzоdа added that every country has its own signs of statehood since ancient times, and it is considered as a sacrament in the structure of statehood. The national flag is also one of the sacraments that embodies the national image of the state at the world level. Guarding and protecting the National Flag is guarding and protecting the Motherland, one’s family and children, the history and traditions of one’s people and country.
Tajikistan is one of the first country in the Central Asian region to declare a public holiday in honor of its national flag. Since 2009 till now, according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on the celebration of the State Flag Day of the Republic of Tajikistan on November 24, magnificent festive events are held throughout our country.
At the end of his speech, Parviz Muhammadzoda concluded that respecting state symbols, including the national flag, should be the sacred duty of every individual in the society, and their appreciation should be a source of pride and tribute to the nation and statehood for every citizen of the country.
In continuation of the round table, Saidhomid Sharifzoda, the head of the Department for the study of regional security issues, spoke on the topic «The International Importance of the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan». He expressed his opinion on the international importance of the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan, the procedure for its use abroad, including the normative-legal aspects of the regulation of the use of the State Flag at the international level.
Thus, in continuation of the round table, the leading specialist of the Department of Analysis and Forecasting of the Internal Policy of the Center, Bakhtiyor Azimov, spoke on the topic «The political importance of celebrating the State Flag Day in the new stage of the development of national statehood». He mentioned that, the importance of celebrating the Flag Day is manifested in the fact that, thanks to this day, the importance of the Flag is as a symbol of national unity, freedom and national pride eccepted. By celebrating Flag Day, we can pass on the importance of the Flag and the values it represents to future generations. In the discussion section, the chief specialist of the Department for the study of regional security issues, Saidkhoja Akbarov, and the head of the Department of research of sectoral issues, Imomnazar Karimiyon, expressed their useful opinions about the importance of the state flag in the internal and foreign policy of Tajikistan.
At the round table, it was also said that our flag is a symbol of the survival of the nation, state, unity and national identity, one of the best means of educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, pride in their nation and protecting the high historical and cultural values of our people.
The deputy director of the Center for strategic research under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Parviz Muhammadzoda, summarized and concluded the round table and once again congratulated the staff of the Center on the occasion of the Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan.
